Application Process and Materials
Having met the program eligibility requirements, please see below notes on the application process:
- NU-CAP Application will open Mid-Spring Quarter each year
- Application consists of individual demographic information, and two short answer (500 character) questions
- Deadline to complete the application is typically Mid-June
- Decisions are Announced Early July
- Potential applicants are expected to read all sections of the NU-CAP website
Due to the high volume of applications, Health Professions Advising is unable to provide individual feedback to applicants not selected for participation in the program. We would encourage you to reapply or meet with your assigned HPA advisor to explore other opportunities.
Selection Criteria
NU-CAP aims to provide students with an opportunity to explore whether a career in medicine is a good fit for them and is an excellent program for students who have never had the opportunity to shadow physicians or encountered barriers to their access to obtain shadowing opportunities. Previous shadowing experience does not preclude an applicant from being selected, however, preference will be given to students by seniority and those with limited or no prior shadowing experience.
