Hosting an Event
Parking for your event attendees on the Evanston campus without advance planning can be difficult. Transportation & Parking is available to assist you in planning your special event or conference.
Please review the following regulations before hosting an event on campus:
- University departments hosting events with expected parking of 30 or more vehicles are required to notify the Evanston Parking Office a minimum of 30 days prior to the event.
- Departments hosting large events that may adversely affect daily parking — as determined by Transportation & Parking — will be directed to park guests in a remote lot and shuttle guests. View the Charter Services page for information about booking shuttles.
- Departments may not post signage related to parking for events without approval from Transportation & Parking.
- Departments may not reserve parking lots. Priority for parking is given to faculty, staff and students with annual permits.
Working with us for groups larger than 30 parkers will ensure a smooth process for your attendees, along with regular faculty, staff, students and visitors.
Parking Locations
The size of your group will determine the best location for your guests' parking. Entire lots or areas of a garage cannot be reserved due to the varying needs of campus. Parking permits are required in all surface lots Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Payment Options
Garage
If you wish to have garage parking for your group, you can either have the attendees pay for garage parking or you can purchase validation tickets in advance from the Evanston Parking Office.
If your group is larger than 30 parkers, Parking Services may require you to purchase validation tickets in advance to ease garage congestion.
Surface Lots
If a surface parking lot will accommodate your group, you can purchase daily permits in advance of your event from the Evanston Parking Office.
