Shuttle Routes
The Intercampus shuttle travels between the Chicago campus and the Evanston campus. In Chicago, it can be boarded at the Ward Building.
Yes, the Intercampus shuttle provides service between the Evanston campus and downtown Chicago. The Intercampus has one stop on the Chicago campus, which is at the Ward Building.
- Intercampus: The Intercampus shuttle provides service between the Evanston and Chicago campuses. The mission of this shuttle is to transport faculty, staff and students between campuses while on University business. Its primary mission is not intended as a way to commute to work or school. Valid Wildcards are required to ride the shuttle at all times.
- Loop Service: The Loop Service runs clockwise and counterclockwise across the Evanston campus and neighborhoods to make it easier to travel from place to place – with frequent stops.
- Frostbite: Frostbite shuttles operate on the Loop Shuttle routes when the predicted temperature is in the single digits and the wind chill factor is predicted to be below zero and/or during blizzard conditions
- Student Game Day: Student Game Day Shuttle takes students to Ryan Field and Welsh-Ryan Arena for all Wildcat football, men's basketball games select women's basketball, select volleyball and select wrestling matches.
The University does not provide service to airports. Airports are accessible by CTA bus and rail, and taxi/ride share services. Visit the Airport Transportation page for more information about these options.
A few companies offer the University community discounts through the Wildcard Advantage program. To see the list of participating businesses, use the filter by category and select "Travel Supplies & Services."
Rides between the Evanston campus and Ryan Field/Welsh-Ryan Arena complex are offered on Operating Times.
Frostbite shuttles operate on the Loop Shuttle routes when the predicted temperature is in the single digits and the wind chill factor is predicted to be below zero and/or during blizzard conditions. When deployed, the Frostbite shuttles offer daytime service on two existing evening-based shuttle routes.
The Loop Shuttle operates on weekends. The Intercampus shuttle does not run on the weekends.

Cost and Access
All Evanston shuttles, including the Intercampus route, are free to students, faculty and staff displaying a valid Wildcard.
Certain graduate schools participate in the CTA's U-Pass program. The CTA does not offer any other discounted fares to university students.
Currently, the following graduate schools offer the U-Pass program:
- Feinberg School of Medicine
- McCormick School of Engineering
- Medill School of Journalism
- School of Law
- School of Physician's Assistants
- School of Physical Therapy
- The Graduate School
If you are a student in one of these schools, you must contact the administrative offices at your school to obtain your U-Pass.
CTA does not offer any other discounted fares to university students.
Guests and Visitors
Unfortunately, capacity constraints do not allow for parents or guests to ride the shuttles. Individuals must have a valid student, faculty or staff Wildcard to ride the shuttles.
The public may ride the for football games.
The shuttle system is intended to transport faculty, staff and students, and our highest priority is to ensure passenger safety on every trip. Due to space constraints and safety concerns, we discourage use of shuttles to transport children but understand it may be necessary on occasion. We encourage parents to be considerate of other riders and adhere to these rules when traveling with children:
- Children under the age of 13 may ride shuttles when accompanied by an adult with a valid Wildcard or Shuttle Pass. The adult must remain with the child for the duration of the trip.
- Children must remain seated for the duration of the trip.
- Due to crowding concerns, large strollers are not allowed on the shuttle before 9:30 a.m. or between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Compactable folded strollers are always allowed.
- If the shuttle becomes crowded, the driver may ask you to fold the stroller and hold your child in your lap.
- Open strollers cannot block the aisle or seats. Priority seating areas are intended for seniors and riders with disabilities. If these seats are not in use, the area may be used for strollers, but please be considerate and move the stroller if the area is needed by another rider.
See the Service Animals guidelines for information regarding service animals on the shuttles. Assistance animals such as comfort or emotional support animals and pets are not allowed.

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
CTA drivers are trained to handle various incidents, and all buses are equipped with multiple security cameras.
CTA prices:
- The is $30 per month (purchased with a monthly Metra pass). This provides unlimited rides on all CTA bus and 'L' lines as well as PACE buses.
- A is also available for $5 when you purchase a Metra Day Pass through the Ventra app. This pass provides unlimited rides on all CTA bus and 'L' lines as well as PACE buses for one day.
- Bus fare for one ride is $2.25, which includes free transfers for up to two additional rides within two hours (as deducted from a Ventra Transit Account or paid via "pay-as-you-go" direct contactless payment; cash is $2.50).
You can use the to purchase CTA passes or load funds onto a Ventra card. Otherwise, you can pay-as-you-go with a credit card and virtual wallets (no Ventra account required CTA passes and Ventra card funds can be payroll deducted via , the University's commuter benefits vendor.
