Cancellations, Replacements and Refunds
Cancellations
It is your responsibility to notify Transportation & Parking if you no longer wish to park on campus or if you terminate employment.
In order to cancel your parking permit:
- Faculty, staff, emeriti and students must remove the sticker(s) from the vehicle (a razor blade scraper works well for this, and it is okay if the sticker tears or is in pieces).
- Please take a photo of the removed sticker(s) and email the photo along with your name and employee ID number to parking@northwestern.edu.
- Refunds/cancellations are processed only upon receipt of a photo of the removed sticker(s).
Deactivation Timeline
- Faculty and Staff:
- You will be charged for each month the permit is assigned and must remove their permit(s) and hangtag (if applicable).
- Payroll deductions will terminate once an emailed photo of the removed permit(s) is received by the Evanston Parking Office as described above.
- Please remember that parking payroll deductions fall one month behind; for example, the February deduction pays for January parking.
- Emeriti: Your Wildcard parking access will be deactivated upon receipt of the emailed photo.
- Student: Depending on when a student returns their cancelled permit to the Evanston Parking Office, they will receive a different refund rate. See refund schedule below for details.
Replacements
- Replacement / additional permit sticker: $10.00
- Cash or check accepted. Chart strings are not accepted for personal use.
- You must scrape off the old permit and bring the pieces into the Evanston Parking Office.
- If you already have a two-vehicle permit, you must return both permits and the two-vehicle hangtag. We will issue you a new set.
If you sold your car and did not retrieve the permit:
- If you had a single car permit, you must come in and fill out an affidavit before receiving a replacement.
- If you have a two-vehicle permit, scrape off the remaining permit from the other vehicle on your two-vehicle permit and bring it, along with the two-vehicle hangtag, into the Evanston Parking Office.
Refunds
To cancel a permit within five business days of initial purchase, present the sticker and receipt to the Evanston Parking Office for a full refund.
