Immobilization and Towing

Vehicles May Be Towed or Immobilized For:

  • Blocking fire lanes.
  • Blocking vehicle or pedestrian traffic ways.
  • Parking in no-parking areas.
  • Being abandoned: vehicles must not be stored on campus for more than 48 consecutive hours.
  • Parking that impedes progress of necessary maintenance projects (snow removal, paving, etc.).
  • Receiving three or more unpaid parking citations (any violation).
  • Parking in a reserved space, handicapped space, tow-away zone or otherwise creating a safety hazard.

If Your Car is Immobilized

Contact the Evanston Parking Office immediately. To have an immobilizer removed, all payments for tickets, fines and immobilizer fees must be received and approved before the immobilizer will be removed. Failure to make arrangements to have the immobilizer removed will result in the vehicle being commercially towed. If a vehicle is immobilized and you do not pay for the tickets, it will be towed at 4 p.m.

If Your Car is Towed

Contact in Evanston to claim it. You will be responsible for paying the towing fee and any storage fees to North Shore Towing.
